Search syntax

You can use QBE (Query By Example) syntax to search by using the following special characters:

*any character
?one character
>greater, lexically after
<less, lexically before
>=greater or equal, lexically after or equal
<=less or equal, lexically before or equal
!=not equal
~when placed first, makes the search case sensitive

Note: if you enter any QBE characters you have to fully qualify your query. See 'Default QBE' for more information.

Default search

The default when no QBE characters have been entered is to apply the QBE pattern "*TEXT*", where TEXT is the text that was entered.

This means that the default is a case insensitive search for the entered text positioned anywhere in the searched content.
